Coming of age during the socio-political mobilizations known as the Chicano Movement, Judithe Hernández found inspiration in poetry, urban aesthetics, feminism, Mesoamerican cosmology, and biblical narratives. She has had a profound influence on Chicano Art and the contemporary visual aesthetics of Los Angeles. Hear Judithe speak on the 20th century social-political art of Mexico with a focus on the artists of Miradas and their influence on the rise of Chicano Art as part of the Chicano Civil Rights Movement of the 1970s.
