10:00 AM  –  1:00 PM

Debra and Dennis Scholl Distinguished Speaker Series

The nine artists in Marking the Infinite offer a glimpse into the diverse contemporary art practice of Aboriginal Australia. Hailing from remote areas across the island continent, the revered matriarchs created works steeped in ancient cultural traditions.  Despite their ancient roots, these works speak to universal contemporary themes, revealing the continued relevance of Indigenous knowledge in the twenty-first century. Learn about the significance and nuance of Aboriginal Australian contemporary art from special guests William Fox, Maia Nuku, Dennis Scholl and Henry Skerritt. Moderated by Center for Art + Environment Director Bill Fox.

Immediately following the lecture and panel, join us for a special luncheon in the Nightingale Sky Room sponsored by the Collections Committee of the Nevada Museum of Art.  The catered Chef’s Table buffet, by Liberty Food & Wine, will feature wine and special guest speakers.
