“A New Color: The Art of Being Edythe Boone” - A Film Screening and Panel Discussion

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday October 14

6:30 PM  –  8:30 PM

Long before Black Lives Matter became a rallying cry, Edythe Boone embodied that truth as an artist, an educator, and a great-grandmother. When a personal tragedy ignites a national outcry, everything that Edythe has worked so tirelessly for is at stake. From humble Harlem beginnings herself, the indefatigable Edythe has for decades introduced underserved youth and seniors to the transformative power of art. Filmed in an observational style over three years, the documentary “A New Color: The Art of Being Edythe Boone” creates an opening to see the world through Edythe’s eyes and her artistic legacy, commemorating the great events of her time.

As part of the 2017 Reno Mural Expo, Art Spot Reno presents this film screening, followed by a panel discussion moderated by the film’s director, Mo Morris. Ms. Boone, Erik Burke, and muralists from around the country also will be on the panel. To learn more about the Reno Mural Expo and the weekend lineup, please click here.

Doors open at 5:30 pm for a social hour and a cash bar. Event begins at 6:30 pm.
